The Municipality of Aalborg is located in the north of the Danish peninsula and it is also the third most populous municipality in the country after Copenhagen and Aarhus. With a population of 217,075 (2019), Aalborg is a great example of the post-industrial urban transformation that led cities to a deep transition. In the last decade, Aalborg has realized this transition and the ‘city of the chimneys’, symbol of industrial productivity, has been transformed into a city of knowledge and culture. The municipality has a great ambition to continue offering high living standards and a sustainable, healthy urban future.
